Supreme Court considers terrorist funding arrangements

In R v Lane and Letts, handed down today, the Supreme Court has given consideration to the true construction of section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000. The case┬áconcerned the necessary state of mind of a defendant who is charged with having “reasonable cause to suspect” that an arrangement he has entered into will or may be used for the purposes of terrorism. Louis Mably QC and Alison Morgan successfully defended the appeal.
