Area of Practice - Terrorism

Terrorism, and anti-terror laws have produced some of the most controversial and complex cases of the past 30 years. Chambers has a particular interest in terrorism cases both in the UK and abroad. Members have appeared in domestic courts for many years both to defend and prosecute in IRA, Al Qaeda and other terrorist trials and are familiar with the special difficulties which can arise in such cases. We continue to be briefed to appear in the most important and high profile terrorism cases. Nigel Sweeney QC, now Mr Justice Sweeney, led Alison Morgan in the prosecution of the 21/7 failed bombers, and Mark Dennis QC and Alison Morgan were involved in the 'ricin plot' prosecutions at the Old Bailey.

Many other members of chambers have significant experience and expertise in dealing with the various offences under the Terrorism Acts. We have also provided advice to government departments in relation to the closure of Guantanamo Bay.
