Tim Cray, Simon Ray and Adam Payter in jungle land sale scam - first charges brought by the SFO under the Bribery Act 2010

Tim Cray, Simon Ray and Adam Payter are instructed in the trial of Stuart Stone, Gary West, James Whale and Fung Fong Wong, accused of offences of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and conspiracy to furnish false information. Mr West, Mr Stone and Mr Wong are also charged with offences of making and accepting a financial advantage, the first charges brought by the SFO under the Bribery Act 2010. The men are accused of promoting and selling biofuel investment products linked to jatropha tree plantains in southeast Asia to UK investors, on a promise of annual returns of up to 25 per cent. The SFO alleges that the company operated as a pyramid scheme. The defendants deny the allegations and the trial continues at Southwark Crown Court.
