Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal considers nature of bribery
The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal today handed down judgment in the case of Secretary for Justice v Tseng Pei Kun. The Court considered in particular what it means for a person to act “in relation to a principal’s affairs or business”. The case concerned an alleged bribe paid to the television personality, Stephen Chan, by his assistant, Tseng Pei Kun. The judgment reversed a decision of the Court of Appeal and quashed the convictions. David Perry QC acted for Tseng Pei Kun.
