6KBW College Hill Cybercrime Seminar

On 14 May 2015, Chambers hosted a seminar focusing on Cybercrime. The panel discussion was chaired by Jonathan Hall QC and the Q&A was chaired Law Commissioner, Professor David Ormerod QC. Our guest speakers included:

  • Ryan Ackroyd and Mustafa Al-Bassam, former members of hackers group LulzSec, who spoke about why they became involved in hacking and effective countermeasures;
  • David Smith, Deputy Commissioner, Information Commissioner’s Office, who spoke about cyber attacks on data holders;
  • Jon Boutcher, Deputy Chief Constable at Bedfordshire and Deputy National Lead for Cybercrime, who spoke about the role of law enforcement;
  • Michael O’Floinn, Lecturer in Cyber Security Law at the University of Southampton, who presented on territoriality and the relationship between the state and service providers.
