Members of chambers have extensive experience of conducting
extradition proceedings. In recent years, members of chambers
have appeared in proceedings in the Magistrates' Court, High
Court and the House of Lords. We act on behalf of requesting
states, those whose extradition is sought and on behalf of
the Secretary of State for the Home Department.
The Extradition Act 2003 has replaced the Extradition Act
1989. The 2003 Act has introduced new procedures and categorised
States with whom there are extradition arrangements. The procedures
under the new Act are new to the courts and those implementing
them. Members of chambers are keen to ensure that we keep
abreast of new developments in this area. Work of chambers
includes carrying out advisory work at all levels.
Members of chambers have appeared in cases which include:
Rottman v Governor of Brixton Prison [2002]
UKHL 20, Government of India v Saifi (2001)
1 WLR 1134 and Government of the United States of America
v Wellington [2004] EWHC 418 (Admin).
